The Peavler Family: Finding Peace During a NICU Journey
Throughout her entire life, Beth Peavler dreamed of becoming a mother. After years of loss and heartache, she and her husband felt called to adoption, a decision that would ultimately change their lives forever.
One Friday afternoon, while teaching her pre-K students, Beth received the call she had been hoping for. A birth mother had chosen them.
On a sunny day in March 2025, their beautiful daughter was born.
After a few days at their local hospital, doctors determined their newborn would need to be transferred to the Niswonger NICU. In an instant, joy turned to fear, and the Peavlers were faced with an uncertain road ahead.
When they arrived at the NICU, a nurse shared information about the Ronald McDonald House, and the family was given the opportunity to stay.
“From the moment we walked through the front doors, a calm and peace came over me,” Beth shared. “I felt welcomed and loved.”
While their daughter received exceptional medical care, Beth and her husband were cared for in ways they never expected. The House provided toiletries, laundry facilities, meals, and, most importantly, compassion. After long days spent at the hospital, Beth returned to hot meals, a refreshing shower, and staff who listened, encouraged her to rest, and held her when she cried.
“The meals were an absolute godsend,” Beth said. “I was so thankful to walk back in those doors to a hot meal, a hug, and support.”
The Peavlers stayed in the Knoxville TVA Credit Union Room, a space they will forever remember as a place of comfort and peace. The kindness of staff and volunteers left a lasting mark on their hearts.
When their daughter was finally discharged, the love didn’t stop. The family was sent home with a handmade quilt, an outfit, and toys—symbols of care that reflected the heart of the Ronald McDonald House.
“The love they have for others is exceptional and immeasurable,” Beth shared. “They truly were a blessing to us.”
Because of generous partners like Knoxville TVA Credit Union and supporters across our community, families like the Peavlers can stay close to their children during the most difficult moments of their lives.
💛 This is why we do what we do.
The Wampler Family – Haysi, VA
After 153 days, five long and brave months, we shared a deeply meaningful goodbye with the Wampler family today. ❤️
Baby Kennedy, Mom (Jensyn), Dad (Jacob), and big brother Emmett are finally heading home to Haysi, Virginia after checking into the Ronald McDonald House on July 21st. December 9 was a truly magical day… it was the very first time Emmett got to meet his baby sister, Kennedy. The joy, wonder, and love in that first meeting filled our hearts and reminded us why every family’s journey here matters so deeply.
During their stay, Emmett brought so much life and laughter to our House. He played, explored, and found a sense of normalcy in the midst of a challenging time. Watching him feel safe, supported, and at home here has been one of the greatest gifts of all.
And tiny Kennedy — already a fighter and a source of so much love — reminded us of the hope that shines through every day in our House.
The Wamplers became part of our RMH family, and their resilience, love, and courage will stay with us long after they have pulled out of the driveway.
Wampler family, thank you for letting us be your home away from home. We will be cheering for all of you, every step of the way. ❤️🏡✨
