AREA HIGH SCHOOL HEAD FOOTBALL COACHES LOOKING TO SCORE BIG TO HELP
JOHNSON CITY RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE WITH JULY 4 FUNDRAISER
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Friday, May 26, 2013) – The Southern Appalachian Ronald McDonald House in Johnson City is hitting the gridiron to raise funds for its annual July 4 fundraiser.
The Ronald McDonald House, which provides housing for families of seriously ill children throughout 40 counties in Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and Eastern Kentucky, has assembled an all-star team of area high school head football coaches to help the organization score big this year.
Each of the ten coaches will be tasked with raising a goal of $500 through an online campaign.
“We’ve been very fortunate in the past that our annual fundraiser has been very successful,” said Chief Executive Officer Dewayne Dickens. “This year, we came up with the idea of asking high school head football coaches if they would participate and they happily agreed to help us out. We all know that people in this area love football, so we’re hoping the folks in this area will get behind the coaches and get to the fundraising goal.”
Coaches who are currently taking part in the July 4 Fundraiser are:

- Shawn Witten – Elizabethton
- C. Simmons – Sullivan East

The Southern Appalachian Ronald McDonald House opened its home in Johnson City, TN, and has since achieved to provide a temporary “home-away-from-home” for families of seriously ill children throughout the Southern Appalachian region. Forty (40) counties located throughout Northeast TN, Southwest VA, and Eastern KY and covering a 125-mile radius outside the city limits of Johnson City are served by this regional facility.
Our house is nestled in a scenic wooded area across from Niswonger Children’s Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee. Making it convenient for parents who have been uprooted from their daily lives to be near their seriously ill child, yet, have a temporary nurturing environment to sleep in, have the comforts of a “home-away-from-home,” support, and peace-of-mind so they can focus and be readily available if there is an emergency with their child.
